APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR KE11:
During the period July 1st – September 7th 2011 it will be possible to register directly online for KE11 at www.ke11.dk.
Under the tab marked ‘REGISTRATION’ you will be asked to complete a short application form and pay your registration fee online. Immediately afterwards you will receive an e-mail containing your KE membership number (e.g. KE1234) and pin-code (e.g. 5678). You will need to use these to upload your material to KE11.
During the same period – July 1st – September 7th – you will have the possibility to upload and edit the material you wish to submit for KE11. Click on the tab marked ‘UPLOAD TO KE11’ at www.ke11.dk (displayed from July 1st to September 7th only) and key in your KE membership number and pin-code (sent to you after payment of fee) in order to access your submission form.
PAYMENT:
The registration fee is DKK 500 – and payment is made online at the time of registration.
ADDITIONAL SUBMISSION FORMS:
Should you wish to use more than one submission form, the application procedure should be repeated, preferably using the same e-mail address.
ENTERING WORKS
1-6 works can be enrolled per form. Payment is required for each form. Works with multiple parts that you wish to enter as one work must be enrolled on a single number, and only one sales price can be issued per number. The placement of multiple parts within the whole of the work must be clearly indicated.
Note: Thanks to the new digital enrollment form, it is now possible to enter several work types on the same form: for example, two paintings, two videos and two drawings on the same form. It is also possible, for example, to enter four paintings and use the two remaining numbers on the form for close-ups, plates or other details of the four submitted works. (Remember to mark a photo as a “SUPPLEMENT” to prevent its being perceived as an independent work.) The individual applicants have sole discretion over their six numbers, and are thus personally responsible for making certain the jury panel can interpret the individual works/ collective project appropriately. There is only one rule in this context: one form can contain a maximum of six individual works. What an individual work comprises is up to the applicant. If eight drawings are entered as a single work (in other words, as one number), all eight drawings will be accepted or rejected as one.
DELIVERY OF MATERIALS
All application materials with the exception of video works are to be submitted in the form of digital documentation. This is done by uploading digital photographs of the works. Video works are the only exception to this, and must be delivered by hand or post due to the issues of handling and data volume (see details below).
UPLOADING OF WORKS:
The uploading of works submitted for inclusion in KE11 should be done online during the period July 1st – September 7th on KE11’s website (www.ke11.dk).
From July 1st you will find a list of general instructions on our website under the tab marked ‘UPLOAD TO KE11’ (in danish version). You will also receive instructions with the e-mail sent to you after payment of the registration fee.
DIGITAL FORMAT:
The 1-6 digital photographs you wish to upload must comply with the following specifications:
Format: Jpeg. Size: circa 5 mb per upload. As a good rule of thumb KE11 recommends A4 print size with a resolution of 300 dpi (3300 × 2550 pixels) in order to ensure that the quality of the photographs is good enough for the KE11 exhibition catalogue. Colour: Remember to save your Jpeg file as RGB and not CMYK (print colour). Use of characters: Remember not to use command characters when you save your Jpeg file – i.e.: ? = ) ( /& % ¤ # “ ! § $ etc. (these can often be the cause of failed uploads).
VIDEO WORKS: All video works should be submitted in DVD format. Size: Max. one work per DVD. The material should be sent to Den Frie Center of Contemporary Art, Kronprinsessegade 26, 1306 Copenhagen K. Material should be submitted no later than 5.00 p.m. on September 7th 2011. Mark the material: ‘Submission KE11’ together with membership number, name and the title of the work.
VIDEOFORMAT:
We ask that all videos be submitted in .wmv, .avi, .mov, or mp4 format.
NB: The actual submission of video works is done at the same place on the KE11 website as the digital uploading of photographs! Which is to say: 1) Put a cross in the box marked ‘Video work’ alongside the numbers 1-6 on the submission form. 2) Information regarding title, length, year, sales price etc. is entered in exactly the same way as with digital uploads. 3) The respective video works are sent to Den Frie Center of Contemporary Art as per the above instructions.
3RD ROUND – DELIVERY OF PHYSICAL WORKS:
If one or more of your works reaches the third round of the selection process you will receive an e-mail from KE11 on Friday September 16th (except in the case of video works and large projects). In order to be included in this final round, you will be asked to deliver one or more works to KE11 on Tuesday September 20th or Wednesday September 21st between 1.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m.
The address to which the physical material should be sent has not yet been determined, but will be made public here on our website on August 1st 2011.
Works can be sent by parcel post. Packaging is not kept. It is not possible for KE11 to return accepted works by parcel post. We recommend that you use a carrier.
SIZE REQUIREMENTS:
There are no specific requirements regarding the size of submitted material.
SITE-SPECIFIC WORKS
We recommend that artists consider the possibilities and limitations of the exhibition site. Contact KE during the listed office hours should you wish to visit the exhibition place with regard site-specific works.
THE EXHIBITION WILL REJECT
1) Works that have previously been shown at juried exhibitions.
2) Works deemed too dangerous to handle/exhibit. Any questions on this issue can be addressed to: info@ke10.dk
JUDGING:
Judging will take place from September 12th to September 22nd 2011. The exhibition committee as a whole will judge works from all of the different genres. From Friday September 23rd exhibitors will be able to log in to their own page to check the outcome of the judging.
ACCEPTANCE FEE:
Those artists who have works accepted for the exhibition pay an additional DKK 50.00 per accepted work. This must be paid by Friday October 7th at the latest, in order for the work in question to be included in the exhibition. This additional fee should be paid online at our website (www.ke11.dk) after the selection process has been completed. Please quote your membership number when making this payment.
GRADING SYSTEM
The grading system uses red, green and blue dots, a number of which are issued to the individual works.
One blue dot means that the work has moved on to the second round.
Two blue dots mean the work has moved on to the third round.
One green dot means the work has been accepted.
One red dot means the work has not been accepted.
THE KE DOT
As there occasionally can be disagreement as to which works should be accepted for exhibition, we will once again this year be making use of an additional yellow dot, which may be given to an artist by one or more jurors as a token of appreciation for the effort the artist has made. The KE dot may be given to an individual work or to a project as a whole. If multiple jurors wish to make this gesture, multiple dots will be issued. KE reserves the right to display on its website works awarded with the KE dot, so as to draw attention to the depth of talent in Danish art, alongside the exhibition of accepted works.
POSTING OF JURY RESULTS
A scheme of the awarded color dots, including the KE dots, will be posted on the KE website following the conclusion of the jury process. Individual applicants can log in and see the results of the voting for their own works by using their member number and pin code via the “Upload to KE10” banner.
